Age-old arguments like Ford vs. Chevy are never dull. For over a century, the two brands have gone head-to-head and been among the leaders of the automotive realm. The Chevrolet "bowtie" emblem and the Ford "blue oval" emblem are both instantly recognizable, but why does Ford have the edge? Philpott Ford is here to show you. Be warned: The winning list for Ford is quite long.

Ford Shows It's the Clear Winner Over Chevy on Several Fronts

Ford Trucks Tout Best-In-Class Towing & Payload Ratings Topping Chevy

Ford trucks boast best-in-class capability ratings for towing and payload. Chevy can't compare. The Ford F-150 can tow and haul more than the Chevy Silverado 1500. The same goes for Ford Super Duty® trucks — the F-250, F-350, and F-450 — which all move heavier payloads and haul heavier trailers than trucks from the Chevy Silverado HD family.

The F-150 can tow up to 13,500 pounds and transport payloads up to 2,445 pounds. The Chevy Silverado's capability ratings are lower and 13,300 and 2,260 pounds, respectively.

Off-Roading Throughout the Golden Triangle Is Better with a New Ford Vehicle

The Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Sport feature G.O.A.T. Modes® to take on any terrain across the Golden Triangle. There are no off-road SUVs in the Chevy lineup.

The Ford Ranger has added a Raptor model to match the off-road capabilities of the Chevy Colorado's all-terrain specialists. The Ford Ranger Raptor unleashes 405 best-in-class horsepower to surpass the Chevy Colorado.

Ford Electric Vehicles Offer Greater Charging Access & More Exhilarating Thrills

Among electric trucks, the F-150 Lightning was the first onto the scene — well before the Chevy Silverado EV.

The Chevy EV lineup has a fair list of options, but there's no all-electric model that offers exhilarating sports-car-like thrills like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which is capable of reaching 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and covering a quarter mile between Beaumont and Nederland in 11.8 seconds. No Chevy EV is this fast.

Chevrolet doesn't have access to the Tesla Supercharger network like Ford does. EV owners from Beaumont can enjoy greater charging access for their Ford electric vehicle between the 15,000 Tesla Superchargers and the BlueOval™ Charge Network, which is the largest public charging network in North America.

There are more electrified options from Ford. The Ford Escape Hybrid and Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid are more fuel-efficient and offer the best of both worlds. There are no hybrids and plug-in hybrids in the Chevy lineup.

Safety

Ford Co-Pilot360™ is a more comprehensive safety suite than Chevy Safety Assist, which doesn't include a blind spot monitor of any sorts. The suite in new Ford vehicles includes an exclusive BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, which will do a better job of alerting you to other vehicles in potential blind spots, whether you're in Nederland along Boston Avenue or the Oaks Historic District in Beaumont. Super Cruise for Chevy vehicles is similar to the hands-free driving feature for Ford: Ford BlueCruise.

Our Findings: Ford Wins Big

In summary, Ford trucks have higher capability ratings, and Ford offers exclusive plug-in hybrids. Ford also has dedicated outdoors SUVs with trail-conquering capabilities for your Golden Triangle explorations. Ford even has a faster electric vehicle. Speaking of EVs, there are more charging options if you drive a Ford electric vehicle. Unlike Chevy, you can now charge your Ford electric vehicle on a Tesla Supercharger or any station on the BlueOval™ Charge Network. Ford also holds the edge in safety with a superior suite.
